Episode 165
Your Podcast Analytics Are Telling You What to Do Next
Enjoying the show? Support it here.
Your podcast analytics can tell you more than how your latest episode is performing. In this episode, I look at how reviewing 30, 60, and 90-day trends can help you identify opportunities to promote older episodes and get more from the content you've already created.

When was the last time you looked at how your podcast episodes are performing
Speaker:over 30, 60 or even 90 days?
Speaker:It's easy to focus on the latest episode and how many downloads it's getting,
Speaker:but looking at the bigger picture can tell you a lot more.
Speaker:For example, are certain episodes continuing to attract listeners weeks after publication?
Speaker:Or are downloads slowing down after the initial launch?
Speaker:That can help you spot episodes that might be worth promoting again.
Speaker:Also, if you have access to listener retention data, look at where people are dropping off.
Speaker:Are you losing them early? Or are there particular points where interest starts to dip?
Speaker:These patterns can help you decide which episodes deserve another promotional
Speaker:push and even what you might want to do differently next time.
Speaker:Tools like Captivate's Episode Compare make it easier to put episodes side by
Speaker:side and spot those trends without having to dig through individual reports.
Speaker:And you can also do this on something like Podcast Connect from Apple.
Speaker:So don't just look at your analytics to see how your latest episode is doing.
Speaker:Look at how your entire back catalogue is performing and use that information
Speaker:to decide where your next promotional effort should go.
Speaker:Because sometimes the next opportunity to grow your podcast isn't necessarily a brand new episode.
Speaker:It's getting more people to discover one you've already made.
Speaker:Until the next time, happy podcasting.
