Should you pay to enter podcast awards? I think the answer is sometimes.
Speaker:Running them costs money, so painting of your podcast considered isn't automatically a red flag.
Speaker:But before you enter, ask yourself what you're actually getting for the money.
Speaker:Who's judging the awards? How are the winners selected? Have previous winners
Speaker:actually received meaningful recognition or exposure?
Speaker:And what happens after you win?
Speaker:If an award can give you something useful for your website, media kit,
Speaker:social profiles or sponsor pitches, it might be worth entering.
Speaker:But be careful if everyone seems to win, or if you're then encouraged to pay
Speaker:extra for a winner's package, certificate, badge or promotional bundle.
Speaker:There's a big difference between paying to have your podcast judged and paying for recognition.
Speaker:I'd also look at the cost. Could that entry fee be better spent on promoting
Speaker:your show, improving your production, or simply putting it back into the podcast.
Speaker:There's nothing inherently wrong with paying to enter awards.
Speaker:Just don't enter because you think winning automatically makes your podcast successful.
Speaker:Enter because you think the award is credible, the judging process legitimate
Speaker:and the recognition is worth the cost.
Speaker:Until the next time, happy podcasting.
